An iconic amsterdam residence, reimagined.

THE STORY


Initially commissioned to shoot just photos, it was during one of our initial meetings about the project I asked the design duo behind Studio Ruim to tell me the story of the house.


Watching and listening to them tell the story so passionately for the next 20 minutes told me everything I needed to know - this was the story we needed to tell, and the only way to do that properly, was through film.


A dual shoot approach was developed and ultimately agreed upon - photography and video - to promote the newly completed Haus Maurier project - a multi year redevelopment of one of Amsterdam's most iconic canal side homes, thoughtfully reimagined by Studio Ruim.

THE APPROACH


Splitting the shoot over two days allowed the production team to focus on all outputs individually, of which there were many.


Day one included video interviews, team portraits and filmed house tours, with day 2 focusing on still image capture throughout the property in all its glorious detail.


Delivering a multitude of video and photo assets to conclude the project, the short form documentary (shown in header above) was showcased to a live audience at the design school Sigrid and René (Ruim Partners) first attended two decades prior as part of a presentation to younger design students. A real full circle moment for Sigrid and René and something that photos alone could not have done justice to.
